As per the American Institute of Stress, the definition of stress varies from person to person. Hence, it can’t be measured. It can either be eustress i.e. positive connotations, for instance, a promotion at work, winning a lottery, the birth of a baby, etc. or, it can be distress i.e. negative connotations, for instance, due work, heartbreak, financial issues, etc. Statistical data have proved that eustress enhances the productivity of an individual; whereas, distress minimizes the same. Therefore, one must focus to de-stress self.
