The period of global pandemic situation has brought us many changes concerning our lifestyles. The fact is that now we are spending more time at home and hence, we notice some things that bother us and that we would like to change. It’s no wonder many people are taking up some home improvement projects and considering new interior design ideas like large wall art. When speaking about this, one thing that usually needs some upgrading is the walls around our home – they seem empty and dull. If you want to spruce up the walls in your home, take a look at some wall decor ideas like live moss to refresh your space. People all around the world, such as the USA, countries around Europe and Australia have started making some changes to their homes during the previous year. They also noticed some major new trends in home design, indirectly caused by the coronavirus.

If you want to add ageless charm to your home décor, you should consider sprucing up your walls by creating an art gallery wall. It is surely one of the best ways to add personality and colour to your otherwise boring walls. You can display a certain art collection featuring a common theme. Or you can use some personal photographs. These photographs can be framed cohesively or in different ornate variations to mix things up a bit. If you want to create an illusion of a larger space, consider extending the art gallery wall to the top.

2. Consider large-scale art pieces

Adding some large-scale art pieces is just a variation on the art gallery wall. An oversized painting or a photograph of large dimensions will attract attention and set the tone of the room. Be careful what artwork piece you choose as it will set the vibe and the mood of that particular room. If you’re going for a minimalist design, opt for black and white art and if you want to add colour to a room, choose a vibrant abstract piece. Paintings featuring nature and natural sights are also a popular option.

3. Render the walls

Another great option for sprucing up your walls is rendering them. Even though rendering is usually used on the exterior walls of your home to protect it from sunlight as well as other tough weather conditions, you can apply it inside the house. You can render some walls to create a certain 3D-like pattern,  which you can later paint and make a barnwood accent wall. It will be a unique feature. Unlike the previously mentioned alternatives with hanging artwork, as far as rendering is concerned, it’s best to leave this intricate job to the pros. So, try to search for some local house rendering companies who will provide their professional services. For example, if your local area is Sydney search for house rendering in Sydney or ask around for some personal recommendations.

4. Add an accent wall

As previously mentioned, an accent wall can be added by rendering it, and in some other ways. People usually create an accent wall by painting it in a bold colour. They tend to use different decorating techniques which include putting on an eye-catching wallpaper or using stencilling. An accent wall has a huge impact, especially in a small space.

5. Paint a stunning mural

Imagine painting a mural over the whole wall – it has the visual power to take you to that place. However, you need to think carefully and choose wisely, as it will reflect on the whole atmosphere of the room in question. You can hand paint it (or professionals can do it if you’re not too handy with wall paint and if you lack artistic skills) or you can choose a wall covering.

6. Use unusual wallpaper

Nowadays, the market has so many wonderful options when it comes to wallpapers, like wallpaper for kids, pets, adults etc.  Not only it is fairly easy to install them, remove them and change them, but they also come in many designs, patterns, colours and dimensions. They look so life-like. These wallpapers can also come in matte and a vast variety of styles. It’s a perfect option to spruce up space and not damage the walls.

7. Decorate walls with shelving

Besides painting walls and putting up wallpapers, we can also upgrade the walls in other ways such as adding shelving. It is a special decorative way that can transform a boring wall into an amusing sight. You can choose some traditional shelving. You can also opt for some new, modern and unusual shelving and put different things on these shelves to make a statement or create a certain vibe.

8. Add nature’s element

An element of nature is always appealing. If you search online, you’ll see that there are some unusual ways of adding greenery to your home besides those typical ways of arranging flower pots on the floor or floor shelves around your home. Some amazing designs allow you to hang your plants right against a wall. It looks incredible!

9. Hang some mirrors

It is a well-known fact that mirrors reflect light. Thus, they make space look larger and of course, brighter. You can hang one oversized piece to achieve this effect, or you can opt for several small ones, arranged in a certain manner.

10. Mount the TV

The best place for a large TV is definitely on the wall. You can make a wall seem less empty if you mount your TV on it. In this way, you can have more free space on a TV shelf to display some other things, or you can even get rid of it if you don’t need it.

Now that we spend so much time at home, we are more bothered by these small imperfections that we tend to notice. It is a perfect time to get the motivation to improve our living space in any way we like it. So, use the resources you have, the biggest one being the Internet, and start working on improving your home.
