If you want to stay healthy, you need to take care of yourself, upgrade your lifestyle to a healthier level and upgrade your hygiene practices. By making sure your living environment, office and any other area you spend time in are clean, you’re practising good hygiene tips. But, if you need help in this department, we’re here to show you how you can elevate your hygiene in simple, easy to do ways.

Always start with the surfaces you touch regularly

Everything you touch daily in your home is also touched by other family members and visitors. Imagine the number of germs that nest on surfaces that are touched several times throughout the day. Of course, by washing your hands regularly you reduce the number of germs. But, you should also clean surfaces around your home often and regularly. These areas are considered areas with high traffic, meaning they get touched regularly. Light switches, doorknobs,  tables, countertops and handles should be wiped at least once a week with a suitable product. Make sure to get every family member included and turn this into a game. This way everyone will take equal responsibility for the cleanliness of their home.

Kitchen hygiene tips

The kitchen is yet another high traffic area where every family member does at least one thing – pour water in a glass. We all know that the time spent in the kitchen is higher than just pouring one glass of water. The kitchen is where you prepare your food, handle raw ingredients like eggs, meat and these can be easily contaminated. You should always wash your hands before you handle food before you touch different types of food and after you’re done cooking. Next, wipe every surface before and after use to remove any germs. Try to keep a separate chopping board for vegetables and meat. Also, don’t forget to wash your sink regularly and your dishwasher as well.

Bathroom hygiene tips

When it comes to practising good hygiene in your bathroom, you have to clean it regularly. Since some areas like the sink have to be cleaned more often than others, you can break it down into chunks. It will take you 10 minutes daily to clean a different area while making sure the entire bathroom is clean all the time. The toilet and sink should be washed daily or every two days. The bathtub and the floor should be wiped at least once a week. You can also wipe any other surface once a week.

There are also several things you can do to further upgrade your hygiene practices in your bathroom. Consider getting one of easy use hand dryers, to level up your personal hygiene practices at home. They are easy to use and you’ll never have to worry if the towel is dry enough for you to dry your hands. We constantly wash our hands due to covid spread, so a hand dryer can ensure our hands are dry quickly. Also, try putting the lid down before you flush. This way germs will remain deep in the toilet, and won’t be spread around the surfaces.

Don’t share personal hygiene kits

Good Hygiene Practices and tips

You should always have your own hygiene kit which you won’t share with anyone. It’s also a good hygiene practice to have a portable hygiene kit you can take with you when you’re at work or out in the public. Pack a hand sanitised, some antibacterial wipes, a face mask and some gloves just in case. This personal hygiene kit will come in handy when you’re out buying lunch and you need to disinfect your hands before getting into a car.

Change your sheets, change your towels

People tend to forget that we spend at least eight hours of our day sleeping, which means that we spend around 60 hours a week on our sheets. So, if you wear one shirt once or twice before you put it among dirty clothes, how many times a week do you change your sheets? We should change our bed linen and our sheets at least once a week to practice proper hygiene practices. The same goes for towels we use to wipe our hands, faces and bodies. Every towel should be replaced after a total of three uses. After each use, make sure the towel is properly hung so that it can air dry before the next use.

When was the last time you cleaned your fridge?

You don’t have to say it out loud, because we can guess your answer. Most people out there forget that refrigerators deserve to be cleaned every three to four months. This is where we keep our food so it deserves our attention and a deep clean three to four times a year. You can wipe it with soapy liquid with ease, especially if you spilt something.  Even though it sounds like a chore, it actually isn’t and you’ll ensure you keep your food in a clean and healthy space.

Pet owners, can we have your attention, please!

Our pets are equal members of our family and they deserve to spend time in a healthy environment. Having a pet requires you to up your cleaning game just a bit to ensure your home is a safe and healthy space for every family member. You should wash your hands every time you play or pet your dog even when you keep your dog inside. When it comes to pet toys, remember to clean them often and store them in a separate container. Remember to groom your dog regularly to maintain high levels of hygiene.

Wipe your tech often

Our phones are glued to our hands. So, if we maintain regular hygiene of our hands, we should also wipe our phones with disinfectant tissues. Even if you forget to wipe your phone throughout your day, you can remember to wipe it upon getting home for the day. This way you’ll ensure your phone is not as dirty as most toilet seats out there.

You should also wipe your floors weekly, air the rooms regularly and remember that cleaning isn’t just a chore. Cleaning is a way to keep your home healthy, germ-free and practice a healthier and happier living. Hope our Hygiene Tips and practices will benefit you, please let us know in comments.
