2020! I have never imagined a year like this. I was supposed to go on with my studies. Was supposed to enter the final year of college. Yet here I am stuck at home due to lockdown. I didn’t mean it the wrong way, I understand how important it is to stay at home.

Coronavirus pandemic! The virus is spreading faster. It keeps on moving and making its way through the world. Patients are struggling to find their way to escape from the virus. Doctors are fighting hard with the virus. Scientists are striving to come up with a vaccine for the virus.

The situation is not what we all expected. Many people are stressed during the lockdown. Some are far away from their family. Some lost their loved ones. Most of them are hoping for the situation to end soon.

Amidst this, staying at home should be our prime motive. It is our duty to do so. We can’t deny that. On the other hand, we need not spend this lockdown by sitting idle at home. Try to accomplish something that you have interest in.

Definitely, all are bored due to lockdown. Jump on to a new routine to cope up with this new setting. It’s not that easy to get into a routine or away from it. All you need to do is practice.

How to adopt a new routine?

routine

Routine is a sequence of action we regularly follow. To adopt a new routine, the first thing is to set a goal whether short term or long term. For example, if your short term goal is to lose weight, then your routine should be based on that, like doing exercises, taking some weight loss drink or going for a walk.

First, think of the thing that you are most interested in. Then look into it. Come up with a routine to achieve your interest.

How long is it to adapt to a new routine?

set a goal

Once you have set a goal and adopted a new routine, how long do you think one would take to adapt to a new routine? Some say that “it takes 21 days to adopt a new habit” Some say “it takes a month” or “66days”.

These magical numbers don’t matter. A routine can be adapted if you have the desire. The amount of desire you have to achieve something that makes you adapt to a routine faster. Choose the goal and follow the routine with passion.

How do you feel?

At first, it will be hard to adapt to a new routine. Don’t give up because it is hard or you don’t feel any kind of positive sign in the routine to achieve your goal. Once you have decided your goal and routine, don’t take a step back. Always take a step ahead.

After adopting a new routine, the feeling you get is unimaginable. You will feel every day as a success. You will get confident each day. Will sense your goal near you each and every day you follow the routine.

What happens once you achieve any goal? How to manage it?

stuck at home

If your routine is placed on a short term goal, it will be a short routine. It doesn’t mean you have to withdraw the routine once you achieve the goal. It can be followed but not the same. Do some changes to it and give space for the new routine too.

Once you have accomplished a goal, set another goal and plan another routine. A long term goal needs a long term routine. You can’t become a writer in one day or one month or even a year. If you want to become a writer, you have to write daily. Always dedicate some time to write.

Set the goals clearly. List the goals in any particular order of your choice. Create a time limit for each and every goal in a day. Finally, you get a routine. Your goals and routine will keep on changing and you will achieve something at the end of each routine.

My kind of routine

Wake up early. Go for a walk (Maintain social distance). Work out at home. Have your breakfast. Watch some tv. Read books to gather knowledge. Read novels. Have your lunch. Watch some series. Make a tea and sit down to write something new. Have dinner and go to bed early.

This is my routine. What is the goal behind it? My goal for going to bed at the time, waking up early, taking a walk and doing exercises is to keep me healthy. My goal for watching tv, series and reading novels is for spending some of my leisure time. (plus I like reading very much)

I always like to be the person who knows something about everything. I would like to gain more and more knowledge. So I spend time reading any kind of book in my routine. Finally writing is my passion in which I am not well versed. But I write daily to improve my skills.

Besides everything going on around you, set a goal, decide, adopt a routine, adapt and stick to it. Finally, defeat the boredom, feel and embrace your success.
