During the COVID-19 pandemic, all physical contact should be minimised to prevent the virus from spreading. We need to follow the government’s guidelines to stay healthy and keep others safe. However, this has a huge effect on our social lives. People are social beings. We’re used to having daily contact with other people. Therefore, this change in our lives greatly affects us. We must find a way to stay connected to others while keeping a safe distance. How can you do that?

1. Use the virtual world

Even though technology plays a great role in separating one person from the other, it can be beneficial for connecting and preventing social isolation. Millions of people log on the computers, smartphones and tablets to use the various social media apps and connect to others. Use the benefits of advanced technology and stay connected to your closest ones.

You can chat, call or even video call your favourite people. Instead of heading to the coffee shop, turn on your laptop and invite your bestie to join you while drinking a morning cup of tea or coffee. Create a virtual happy hour with your pals to relax after a long day of working. The Possibilities are endless.

2. Online Gaming

Believe it or not,  online gaming like target darts can be a great way of connecting to people. Whether you have a team or you want to join a game with random people, it can be a beneficial way of beating social isolation.

Game developers have never been more creative. Whether you choose to play against another player or cooperate as a team, you can choose from a wide range of multiplayer and online games. Everyone can find something they enjoy, from card and virtual board games like dart board to team fighting and cooperation. You can meet online with your mates, or use this opportunity to meet amazing new friends. Who knows, maybe the era of physical distancing will be the era of new virtual friends.

3. Attend virtual events or classes

We can agree that being in quarantine is boring at best. If you’re tired of online gaming and chatting, maybe it’s time to shake things up a little bit. Quarantine is the ideal opportunity to learn or see something new.

Many galleries and museums have opened their virtual doors for visitors all around the world. You can explore different eras and enjoy lovely paintings painted by the famous artist. On the other hand, you can use this free time opportunity to attend a virtual class and learn something new. From web development to literature, there’s a wide range of classes available online.

4. Organise an online watch party

Since cinemas are closed and film night gatherings are discouraged, you need to come up with a new favourite Friday evening activity with your friends. It’s time to catch up on all the TV shows, series and films you didn’t have time to see. And is there anything better than seeing them with your pals?

Organising an online watch party is easy. However, choosing the film amongst the best movies of 2020 wouldn’t be so simple. You can pick a genre or a theme for each week. Don’t forget to make some popcorn!

5. Send love from afar

How to Stay Connected virtually

Sadly, most birthday parties and other special occasions are cancelled this year. You most likely won’t be able to spend the happiest moments with your closest ones, especially if they live far away. However, that shouldn’t stop you from brightening their day, at least a little bit.

Thanks to online ordering, you can send special gifts to the people you care about, even if they live far away. For example, if you live in the US, you can easily order flower delivery in Sydney for your loved one, even though you’re not there to personally wish them all the best. This unique sign of gratitude will put a smile on their face and a couple of happy tears in their eyes.

6. Virtual workouts

Since the gyms are closed down, and physical distance is encouraged, working out with your gym pal is impossible. However, that shouldn’t stop you from working out and pursuing your dream of a healthy body.

Use the perks of the online world and host virtual workouts with your friends. Do early morning yoga to keep you fresh for the whole day. Include your friends online or your household in these activities. It can be beneficial for everyone to stay healthy during the pandemic.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are numerous ways in which you can stay connected to others even if you’re far away. Maybe these online gatherings and events will become the new normal in the future. Until then, get the most out of quarantine and improve your mind and body.
