Redefining Electric Car Performance
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N breaks away from the mould of conventional EVs by incorporating features that enhance driver engagement. One such feature is the simulated 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. There is an N-mode button on the steering you press it and the engine simulation works. While electric cars naturally don’t require gear changes, this feature provides a sense of control familiar to drivers of gasoline-powered vehicles. You can also bounce off the rev limiter just like with an ICE vehicle. The car also emits simulated engine noises, further adding to the driving experience.
These features might initially seem gimmicky, though the engine noises and gear shifts make the drive more engaging. But obviously, these noises are coming through speakers and they do sound like a car that sounds in a video game. However, not everyone wants to do that every time, you can deactivate these for a more traditional EV driving experience.
Visual Changes
Visually there are subtle changes, compared to regular Inoniq 5, the first thing you will notice is the red accents on the exterior and in the interior. There are new bumpers with vents for additional cooling in the front and a diffuser at the rear. You get larger 21-inch wheels with cool-looking alloys.
In the interior, you get a new steering wheel with all the buttons for drive modes and N mode. Also, it is wrapped in Alcantara. The interior is completely black now to make the vehicle more sporty. the seats are also new sporty bucket seats for more support. Overall the interior feels more premium. All the interior panels is made using recyclable materials.

Beyond the novelty of simulated gear changes and engine noises, the Ioniq 5 N boasts significant modifications designed to elevate handling and performance. The car is equipped with a larger battery pack compared to the standard Ioniq 5, providing more power and potentially longer range.
