Tata Tigor EV Production Begins
Tata has two current models of Tigor one with a petrol engine and another with diesel. Tata Motors has announced the Tigor EV and has promised to deliver 10,000 units in 2 years. For I phase tata motors has got a LOA from EESL of delivering 250 units, another 100 units LOA will be given shortly. The electric drive system of Tigor is developed and supplied by Electra EV. First 500 units will be delivered to the government.
However, Tata will not launch Tigor EV before the last quarter of 2018. But we can expect the car to see at the Delhi auto expo 2018. The 10,000 units of the electric Tigor will replace the petrol and Diesel-powered car that the government officials have been using. Currently, estimates suggest that there are as many as 5 lakh Government cars in use.
The price of the Tigor EV is 10.16 without GST to the government and 11.0 inclusive of GST. The Tigor EV won’t go on sale at least before a year. We are pretty sure the company will initially focus on delivering the 10,000 units to the Government first. We can expect a lesser price in the near future because the government wants to push electric vehicles in the market on or before 2030. So we can see huge rebates and subsidies on EV.
